Sorolla's painting output encompasses 4,200 works in oil, water color and gouache. Blanca Pons-Sorollahas spent more than 3 decades recording, studying and systematically cataloguing this vast oeuvre andorganising it into a chronological catalogue raisonné. The first instalment of this several-volume work wasissued in 2019, dovetailing with the time when this painter garnered international recognition through themonographic expositions at the National Gallery of London and the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin.The need to revise the Museo Sorolla'scatalogue led the publication of the catalogueraisonné to start with the important setof works that this institution harbours, whichare essential to understanding the artist fromValencia. Preliminary volume includes notonly almost 1,300 paintings from the museumbut also an exhaustive biographical timelineof the artist, a general updated bibliographyon the painter, a list of his exhibitionsand a methodological introduction on howhis paintings were catalogued. Consequently,this will serve as the reference volume forthe rest of Sorolla's catalogue raisonné.
