The purpose of this book is to offer a set of new approaches to the knowledge of the arts in Peru. These are ten views that correspond to prominent historians who remain attentive to the advances in research in their respective specialties. The panorama covered by the book is quite broad and challenging. In addition to tracing the legacy of the art of the ancient Peruvians and delving into the cultural fusion that colonial art reveals; it also examines cultural expression in the first half of the 20th century, a time when painting was hardly the work of amateurs and had no greater demand or space for professionalization. Over time, Peruvian artists have been able to reconcile their desire for innovation with a reassessment of the past, marking a new milestone.
