Describes the antisemitic use of the "Exemplar Humanae Vitae" by Uriel da Costa (1585-1640) a philosopher and free thinker who criticized the Jewish community of Amsterdam as too rigid and ritualistic. Argues that Spinozism is the outcome of the spiritual crisis of the crypto-Jewish community.
